By reporting fraud, you can help save countless other individuals, families, and communities from falling victim to the same scams. Report fraud, scams, or other suspicious activity directly to Federal Trade Commision at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
Credit Bureaus
Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.
Contact each bureau for help with credit freezes, identity theft support, and general credit resources and education. If you know or suspect you have been the victim of fraud or identity theft, each bureau can offer assistance to restore or protect your credit.
Protection Tips and Scam Awareness from the FBI
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation publishes news, podcasts, and updates about scams to watch out for directly on their website. Any fraud you experience can be reported directly to the FBI through their Internet Crime Compliant Center (IC3).
The Phantom Hacker Scam. Scammers attempt to gain access to your smartphone and online banking by posing as a representative from your financial institution. They encourage you to download a specific app, stressing that your money is at risk. This app allows them to gain access to your phone and banking app to send funds to themselves. LEARN MORE.
Cryptocurrency Investment Fraud. Fraudsters encourage you to send funds to be deposited into financial investments using cryptocurrency, promising a large return to you. In reality, all investments are fake, and any money sent to them is lost. In these cases, the scammer commonly finds victims through social media, texting random phone numbers, or dating websites.
